News Update: £100k ‘Second Chance’ Poker Classic Attracts Pros, Colclough, Goodwin and Jackson
Posted by Mike Wooten on 29 Sep 2008 at 14:09
We’ve hit the qualification round half-way mark in our inaugural ‘Second Chance’ poker classic a unique tournament where entrants get two chances to win a guaranteed prize pot of £100,000.
With only five weeks left to qualify – online or in participating land-based Circus, Maxims or Mint casinos – we’re predicting the 200 seats in the final will be in high demand.
Direct buy-ins to the main event – taking place at the Circus Casino at Star City, Birmingham between 30 October and 2 November – are currently being registered, and already include three high-profile pro players, Dave Colclough, Marc Goodwin and Paul “Action Jack” Jackson.
The final of the £100,000 Poker Classic is shaping up to be highly competitive and there’s still plenty of time to qualify online or in a land-based casino, but it’s important to act now before the limited number of places get filled.
Online qualifiers for £100k Poker Classic run every Monday at 20.00 (BST) for £25 buy-in + £2.50, while land-based qualifiers are taking place now across the Circus Casino, Maxims and Mint brands nationwide. A direct buy-in to the main event is available for £500 + £50. For more information [click here]
Dave Colclough
Considered by many to be the world’s best Omaha player, he also excels at other variations of poker and was voted the European Player of the Year in 2003, and in 2005 he was inducted into the European Poker Players Hall of Fame.
Dave has won $2.5 million from live tournament play alone and is top of the Welsh all-time money list. At the Second Chance £100,000 Poker Classic, Dave will be the player to beat in the £100 Pot Limit Omaha tournament and will also be one of the favourites in the main event.
Marc Goodwin
With over a million dollars in live tournament winnings and almost $300,000 this year alone, Goodwin is a force to be reckoned with. Renowned for his sharp suits and million dollar smile, Marc has already won the Manchester leg of the Grovesnor UK Poker Tour earlier this year collecting £90,420.
Paul “Action Jack” Jackson
Action Jack used to be a tax manager but is now considered to be one of the best online poker players in the world. He is also pretty impressive away from the computer screen and his titanic struggle with Phil Ivey in the 2005 Monte Carlo Millions where he finished second has gone down in poker history.

So do any of these guys look like your 40 million dollar man?
Isn't Surinder Sunar also signed up? While we are at it, what about this Waldorf1 character? Is he going to be playing in the Main event? I'm looking forward to meeting him (assuming it's a him) so I can teach him a real lesson. Next time you want someone to do some coaching...ask me.
MadManMax: I think these are the images of the guys... you be the judge!:
