Join our bid to get poker into the 2012 Olympics

Poker is the latest sport to show its hand in a bid to be recognised by the IOC as an Olympic event, but we face stiff competition from online campaigns by both women’s netball and cricket.
So join our campaign to help convince Olympic organisers to include poker as a demonstration sport in 2012 and as a main event in 2016.
There’s no good reason why it shouldn’t be considered; it’s now one of the fastest-growing games in the world and was recently officially recognised as a sport. As if that’s not enough, the game ticks many of the IOC’s regulatory boxes, such as its international and cross-gender appeal, plus it would become truly the first-ever age and class-neutral Olympic event.
Despite this, the IOC refuse to consider it for the Olympics – even as a demonstration sport. Our campaign also faces stiff competition from several rival groups each hoping to elevate their sport to Olympic status, most notably Twenty20 cricket and netball (and how many people can be interested in that?).
